ASHER

“Very few times in life have I been struck with the feeling that a young person has come onto the scene with as much heart, talent, and authenticity as Asher Brinson.” - Christopher Henry

Midnight Hurricane features eight original songs, and is backed by an all-star group of collaborators, with contributions from Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Jason Carter, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Christopher Henry, Cory Walker, Justin Moses, Smith Curry, and Lindsay Lou, adding rich layers to an already standout release.

Asher
I grew up in eastern North Carolina, where life moves a little slower and music has a way of finding you. Around here, it’s not unusual for a guitar to get passed around at family gatherings, and that’s how it started for me. I didn’t know it at the time, but those moments were planting a seed.
Once I discovered bluegrass and really understood what a guitar could do, something clicked. Music stopped being background noise and became my passion — a way to tell stories, honor the roots of this place, and share a piece of who I am.

In the world of bluegrass, there is a recurring narrative about the “next generation” carrying the torch. But every once in a while, a young artist arrives who isn’t just carrying the torch—they’re relighting the whole bonfire. Enter Asher Brinson, a 16-year-old left-handed guitar picker from Newport, North Carolina, whose debut album Midnight Hurricane is a masterclass in “old-soul” storytelling and contemporary picking.

A left-handed guitarist, singer, and songwriter with an old-soul sensibility, Brinson’s music feels rooted in tradition while remaining refreshingly personal. With Midnight Hurricane, Brinson arrives as a young artist deeply connected to the bluegrass tradition but already carving out a voice of his own.
